My travel setup for painting

"Cigar painting box with a small plein air painting in progress"
Some have asked what my outdoor painting setup looks like. Above is the setup I use when I travel. It is my lightweight setup which consists of a painting box made from a modified cigar box and it mounts to a tripod. This setup is great for lightweight travel and I can paint on sizes up to 8" x 10" with this box, which is usually the only size I have time for when I travel. When I am closer to home, I use a Full sized French Easel, which is basically a sketchbox that holds all my supplies that folds out into an easel. I can use really large canvases with that setup but the downside is that it is heavier and more cumbersome to set up. I will try to post a pic of that setup as well.

Hi there Justin Holdren, I was just cruising the blogosphere searching for the latest information on poster art and came across this great blog. Although My travel setup for painting wasn’t quite what I was looking for, it has excellent articles. I see now why I found your page when I was looking for poster art related topics. I’m glad I stop by, keep up the good work.
